The new normal is now the bare trees, sounds of the wind, and a sun that disappears by 4pm. This weather changes what we want to do to occupy our time. LIGHTING

Lighting is everything in a space. Warm and cool lighting can change the ambiance more than you’d think. Floor lamps with warm lighting are perfect for a winter glow in your home. Singular light sources scattered across a space cultivates a cozier atmosphere. Remember, cool lighting might take you out of the winter style that has been made in your home. Pendant lighting in a dining area adds a minimalistic touch to a space in addition to central lighting in the area.

THROW BLANKETS & PILLOWS

Having throw blankets and pillows everywhere in the space is a great way to create a comfortable atmosphere. Play with texture and color for a more eclectic look in your space. Some natural pillows mixed in with velvet textures is a fun combination. Keep a basket used particularly for blankets and leave them draped near sofas and accent chairs as swell. A leather or jute basket adds a boho style to your space with a winter twist. Use these blankets and throws as not only objects that keep you warm, but decorative objects as well!

An area rug accents certain sections of your home, and warm up your feet. This is an opportunity to pick a rug that is fluffy and soft to the touch. Rugs can sit in harmony with a space or make a bold statement. They can be used as visual pathways or to fill up a dead space in a home. You can use them to connect spaces and utilize them for a minimalistic home. Layering rugs is a great way to feature a seating area in an open plan space. It gives more of a boho & eclectic look that is more stylish than one large rug, creating an interesting shape in the space. One recent movement is using a rug as a work of art in a home- hanging it on a wall. It does a great job of absorbing sound and fills a space in a lovely way.

A BIG, COZY SOFA

A sofa is one of the most important parts of a space. It dictates what the space will require alongside it. It is where your guests will gather and where you will host evenings! A sofa with a great deal of space and sound is the way to go. You need a sofa that is durable and soft. Also one that is versatile for different styles. A spacious sofa allows for room to get comfortable with blankets and decorate with throws!

ORGANIC, RUSTIC TEXTURES

Natural materials are a staple for a chic winter home. It adds a boho flair and a great variety of texture. This is the opportunity to take advantage of bamboo, rattan, jute, and natural wood for a more rustic look for your interior. A jute rug or wooden coffee table provides texture and brightens up the space.
